Emergency SMS opt-in evidence

CrisisComms sends automated emergency and crisis SMS alerts on behalf of employers to employees and emergency contacts who opt in. Messages are not used for marketing or promotions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.

Opting in is optional

Opting in is optional. If you decline, it will not affect your employment, your access to CrisisComms, or any other service your employer provides.

SMS consent is never required to create an account, sign in, complete a purchase or transaction, or continue employment. No product feature is withheld from anyone who declines. The consent checkbox covers text messages only and is not combined with acceptance of the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, or any other agreement. The consent form itself gates nothing: it is a standalone page reached from an invitation email, not a step in signup, checkout, or account creation.

How consent is collected

There is one opt-in method: a web form reached from an invitation email. CrisisComms does not use keyword, paper, verbal, in-store, or QR opt-in.

  1. A company administrator in CrisisComms emails the employee a unique link. The email identifies the employer, states that messages are emergency/crisis alerts via CrisisComms, states that opting in is optional, includes the required disclosures below, and links to the Privacy Policy and SMS Alerts Terms.
  2. The recipient opens the unique link and reaches this consent form. They enter and confirm their own mobile number, and may check a consent checkbox that is unchecked by default. The same page shows a clearly labeled “No thanks - do not text me” button that records the decline and ends the flow with no messages sent and no other consequence. Recipients may also simply close the page. Administrators cannot opt in on anyone's behalf. A publicly viewable sample of the live form is at https://www.crisiscomms.io/sms-opt-in/example.
  3. Only if the recipient checks the box and submits does CrisisComms send a confirmation SMS with the brand name, enrollment confirmation, message frequency, rates, HELP, and STOP.
